The Smyrna Public Library is the oldest city operated library in the state of Georgia and has provided service to the residents of Smyrna for seventy years. Among the resources that are available include reference service, free internet access, voter registration and wi-fi hotspot access. Materials that are available include books, audiobooks on tape and cd, videotapes and dvds. The reference collection has grown to over 10,000 volumes with emphases on genealogy and military history. Library cards are free for City of Smyrna residents, real property holders and business/corporations holding a Smyrna business license. Nonresidents can receive a library by paying an annual fee. Resident’s library cards are good for two years. All other library cards must be renewed annually. Parents or legal guardians can authorize their children to get library cards. Parents are responsible for any fines or fees accrued by their children or dependents.

Library Catalog: The Smyrna Public Library uses TLC's LS2 PAC catalog. This state-of-the-art system allows you to search the library's collection and it also allows you to reserve and renew materials online. Its unique book river feature lets you scroll books by cover to find titles that really interest you. You may check the status of your account anytime by clicking on the "My Account" tab. This feature will provide a list of every item you have checked out, any items you have on reserve, and any fines you may owe.
There are many interesting features to the library catalog including genre, new book and best seller searches. If you have any problems, simply click on the ‘Help’ tag. The online directions will help you resolve almost any problems.
Materials: Materials that are available include books, audio books, videotapes and DVDs. The collection has grown to over 123,000 items with a reference collection of more than 10,000 volumes with emphases on genealogy and military history.

Circulation and Reserve Rules: Cardholders can have up to 25 items checked out at one time. No more than seven of these items can be videotapes and no more than five may be DVDs. Everything except videotapes and DVDs can be renewed twice. However, materials that are overdue or on reserve cannot be renewed.
Cardholders can reserve books online or in the library. Users are limited to reserving a maximum of five titles at one time. Library staff does not pull books from the shelf for reserves. If a book is listed as in, you may want to check the shelves yourself.
Fines & Fees
- Overdue fines: Books, audio books, and compact discs – 20 cents a day - $10.00 maximum per item.
- Videotapes and DVDs - $1.00 a day - $10.00 maximum per item.
- Lost or damaged materials fees: The original purchase price of the item or items.
- Lost Library Cards: $2.00 replacement fee.
- Photocopying: 15 cents a page.
- Internet Computer Use: Free for Smyrna Library cardholders. $1.00 an hour for users without library cards. There is a two-hour a day maximum. Printing is 10 cents a page.
- Word processing computers: $1.00 an hour. (You must have a library card to use these computers.)
- Test Proctoring: $10.00 an hour. Service only available to Smyrna residents with an advance appointment.
- Meeting Room Rentals: Nonprofit organizations $25.00 for two hours use or $40.00 for four hours use. For profit organizations $60.00 for up to four hours use.
