The Smyrna Police Department is hosting a Citizens Police Academy starting Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Learn about the daily activities of your local police officers. Application deadline is September 15, 2017.
 
The Citizens Police Academy will run for 11 weeks, meeting one night a week (Wednesdays) from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and one Saturday (SWAT demonstration). Participants will get a behind-the-scenes look and access to the structure and operations of the Smyrna Police Department, including 911 tour, crime scene investigation, and firearms simulation.
 
Note: the actual class dates will run longer than 11 weeks due to several holidays during the course of the academy.   
Participants will get a behind-the-scenes look and access to the structure and operations of the Smyrna Police Department. The class size is limited to 15 seats to allow for hands-on training.
 
Topics to be covered will include:

  • Criminal Investigations 
  • Constitution Law & Police Procedures
  • Defensive Tactics & Firearms Safety
  • Meet and get to know the officers of the Smyrna Police Department

All participants must be 18 years of age and undergo a limited background check. Priority will be given to Smyrna residents, but all are welcome.
