2018 Smyrna Citizens Academy
UPDATE: There is currently a waiting list for the 2018 Spring Citizens Academy
Ever wondered how the City of Smyrna operates across all departments? Apply today to be a part of the first ever Smyrna Citizens Academy cohort!
The Smyrna Citizens Academy will give residents an opportunity to become civically engaged by building positive relationships with city government officials while furthering their education on the city’s daily processes. Through the academy, citizens will get a behind-the-scenes look at city operations, have a chance to give feedback that may help the city improve its commitment to the citizens, and become ambassadors for the city in which they live, work, and play.
This civic learning opportunity is made possible through sponsorship by Advanced Disposal.
The City of Smyrna Citizens Academy will take place over a nine-week period consisting of eight learning sessions followed by a graduation ceremony.
Sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM beginning on March 20, 2018 and concluding on May 15, 2018.
Learn from city staff during interactive sessions about:
- City Administration and City Council
- Finance and Human Resources
- Community Development and IT
- Public Works
- Parks & Recreation
- Public Safety
- Library and Museum
- Keep Smyrna Beautiful and Community Relations
