- Homestead Exemption Form [PDF].The intent of this exemption is to protect you from future increases in your property tax payments that result from a reassessment in your home's value, unless that increase is due to improvements. This homestead exemption is only for residential property that serves as the primary residence of the owner.
This form will allow us to verify your eligibility for the homestead exemption and to determine what your homestead exemption will be. To be eligible for the homestead exemption, this form must be completed, signed and returned to the City. Once the form is on file with the City, it will not be necessary to file again to receive the homestead exemption for future tax years.

If you are 62 or older by January 1 this will reduce the assessed value of your property by $10,000 thereby saving you, according to the current millage rate, $89.90. Please note that this form needs to be notarized. If you prefer, you can come to the tax office located on the second floor of City Hall and we can notarize your signature at that time.
- Totally Disabled Homestead Exemption Form [PDF]. If you are totally disabled as of January 1 and have an annual net income not to exceed $12,000. This will reduce your assessed value of your property by $22,000 thereby saving you, according to the current millage rate, $197.78.
Please complete the appropriate form(s) by April 1 and mail, fax, or deliver it to the City of Smyrna Tax Department.
