KICK-OFF: “Food History of the South”georgia peaches

Speaker: Terri Carter, UGA Extension Family and Consumer Sciences

Ms Carter will trace the foods that we call Southern, soul, country and comfort foods back to their roots. This extraordinary journey back into the history of our Southern food heritage is a look back in time and it traces the seeds back to their origins.

Speaker: Valerie Frey, author of Preserving Family Recipes: How to Save and Celebrate Your Food Traditions

This program is perfect for history buffs who don't cook, cooks who don't care about history, and people who love both! Frey will discuss the value of family recipes, exploring them as historical documents. She will also talk about working with older recipes, give basic tips on preserving heirloom materials, and what is needed in your "toolkit" to work with family recipes effectively.
